Good stone(18/12/2009)
If you are going to be taking the time to stone your stirrup, you might as well work on the track too. I have used this on all of my trigger jobs and have been happy with the outcome. The trigger pull ends up silky smooth. Be careful as to not make too many passes or you will add stirrup slop. Too bad Brownells does not have this size of stone in a set of 3; rough, medium and fine..hint..hint..
Can't do without!(22/11/2012)
Amazing results using this; tune & polish stirrup also for a silky smooth trigger pull. 3 "grits" (C,M&F) would be even greater; my 1911 had uneven surface in track that took a while to smooth.
If you work on 1911s youneed this stone(25/04/2013)
Reducing trigger pull due rough trigger tracks easy to use and care for just follow the instructions. Wish I would have got one years ago. No negatives from me.
Great Tool(22/01/2014)
Picked this up to smooth out a gritty trigger pull in one of my 1911s. Extremely easy to use, fits right in the trigger track and smoothes out machine marks and burrs easily. I plan on using this on my other 1911 as well.
Excellent product, outstanding price!(31/05/2014)
I've owned this stone for about a year and a half, and used it on well over 300 handguns. It is very tough, and won't snap in half if dropped like an arkansas stone would. The edges are very sharp and are exact 90*. The grit is much finer than a fine india stone, and would compare similar to a soft arkansas, if not a bit finer. I'd rate it's grit to be around 800-900. It work's great in the trigger tracks, as well as the sides of the trigger slot itself, removing burrs that can occur from the milling process of the magazine catch hole. One thing to keep in mind, try and limit using this stone on steel guns only, as aluminum will horribly imbed itself into the stone and is a devil to remove, and in bad cases, can't be removed without refacing the stone with a more aggressive abrasive. I learned this the hard way polishing a Kimber Ultra CDPII compact 1911. I'd buy one for steel and one for "everything else". Also, guns like the Kimber, have a finish coating on interior and exterior, so you'll be stoning through the finish to get to the metal underneath, and the finish also loads up the stone badly... I have found that by using Lansky Honing Oil instead of water, the finish doesn't imbed nearly as badly! Overall, for this price, there's no reason NOT to own one if you do at least one trigger job!
