Works great(10/09/2009)
The little hammer just sits in a rack on my peg board but when needed I have instant access to either a nylon or brass head depending upon the need.
Excellent tool(11/10/2009)
I keep one of these hammers on every bench in the shop. The nylon is perfect when you cannot mar a finish, and the brass works great for when you need a solid hit, but can't deform the part. I have had my original hammer for almost two years, and it is still going strong, all I have done is touched up the nylon side with the disk sander to clean up the edge and keep it looking sharp.
I would buy this product again(14/10/2009)
Very well made, perfect size for most jobs on guns,You get the best of both worlds brass and nylon..
Quality hammer(02/05/2011)
Great balance, perfect weight and size for gun smithing. Its the hammer I reach for the most.
Best Hammer(05/10/2011)
What great purchase. I found this hammer to be perfect for most jobs. Extremely durable and strong.
Great hammer!(21/01/2013)
This hammer is perfect. Well made, the perfect size for gunsmithing, and the head is firmly attached to the handle. This is definitely a keeper.
Good Paperweight(24/08/2013)
First the good side. Its the right size and weight. Now the bad side. The heads do NOT screw flush with the base. The brass head leaves a 1/8" gap with the base. Same with the Nylon head. Also the Nylon head has a Big "O" mark the size of a dime marked on. I am sending this one back to Brownells because as it is it can only be used a paperweight.
Good gunsmithing hammer(05/12/2013)
As a former auto mechanic, I have hammers. I have a lot of hammers. This one is well-suited for working on guns though. The weight is right for the tap-tap that you need every now and then for a sticky pin or dovetail sight. With a nylon side and a brass side, it provides two options for non-marking, smacking power. Put your 32-oz smith hammer down and use this one on your handgun or rifle.
Very nice hammer. Glad I got this tool.(05/02/2014)
It's a very nice tool. I had a small brass hammer and wanted one a little bigger with a plastic head. It fits the bill.
Brownells is tops for gunsmithing tools.
brass and poly...perfect hammer heads(09/02/2015)
I thought I was going to buy an 8oz. ball peen hammer, but found that this hammer is much better. Bronze for non-marring the steel parts of the job (in case you miss a hit), and even doens't mar or wear the head of pin punches as brass is much inferior/softer than steel. The polymer head is good for light smacks for job fitting and ensuring a good mate of parts.
Best of all, the hammer heads are replaceable and could be bought again from Brownells.
