DOUBLE STAR AR-15 FREE FLOAT HANDGUARDS - DOUBLE STAR AR15 CARBINE LENGTH HANDGUARD

Well machined and easy to install. This was my first free float hand guard I have installed. Great choice for a frills hand guard and the price reflects that. Took 55 ft/lbs of torque to get the gas tube lined up. Rifle was a 16 inch DPMS Carbine.

I use this handgaurd for USARMs competitions. Well built, secure grip, and clean looks.

This is a well made part, excellent machining, good checkering, but I had to give it poor quality as it is too short for a full size, 20" barreled AR. The gas block should not show, however; with this handguard it is outside the interior of the handguard and looks weird. All other handguards I have used completely cover the gas block as it should be for protection. I must confess, I did not measure the rifle barrel to be sure it would fit. Should have, it is from Sharps in 25-45. However; it's not their barrel that's the problem as I used a standard AR gas tube. And the website ad for this part did give it's overall length, but when it said "made for a full size rifle" and 20" barrel, I just figured that it would fit correctly. Will probably replace it later but can't send it back, I painted it. Oh well.

very light. leaves about 3/16" clearance from a standard low pro block. For safety I cleaned the threads with acetone then a touch of loc-tite. It threaded very smooth onto an aero fde upper and onto the included nut. I torqued it to 75 and loosened it a few times to see if the threads would stretch and they didn't noticeably. Final hole alignment was achieved under 75 ft lbs from having a 10% hole at 30. Note FYI I see mechanics on youtube all the time using their torque wrench wrong, if you have a dogbone, crows foot, or spanner wrench connected to your torque wrench it should be at 90 degrees to the wrench NOT Straight out. If necessity dictates it be strait out their is a fairly simple mathematical formula for achieving torque accuracy. My guess is most of the torque wrenches in the world aren't even calibrated though so... Whatever. 2 cents from an aircraft mechanic I guess.

Well made and solid. Installed on a 16" AR and it looks great. Very happy with this product

About as easy to install as anything I ever did. AR tool didn't work, but it screwed right on and centered perfectly with an oil filter wrench . Went to the range with it and it did the job right now with a new barrel that shot very good groups. This is about as easy as it gets!

Awesome handguard, fit perfectly between my upper and gas block on my 20" barrel, looks great, very solid construction, no burrs, nice knurling, not too sharp where it hurts your hands and not so subtle where it doesn't help your grip. The finish seems to be really well done but only time will tell that for sure. Will deffinately recommend this to others.

As good if not better than higher priced aluminum free floats. Packaged well and built rigid. Comes with barrel nut. I replaced a Hogue over molded free float with this. Much better set up IMO. I would buy again.

I was worried that this will weigh more than my Carbon Fiber hand guard that it replaced but it was not bad. Rifle length is 12.5 inches and weighed 12.3 oz with barrel nut when my Carbon Fiber weighed 10.8 oz. Overall great purchase.

I received this rail in the mail today. It took me about five minutes to take the old barrel nut off my AR pistol and then to install the new nut, align it for the gas tube and screw on the rail. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and fit finish of this rail.

I should say they stink, because I want them in stock when I need them! Very high quality good looking part. Easy to install, worked fine with my DPMS barrel nut wrench. It is made of aluminum but has a very good substantial feel, rock solid. This was the first time using this part, I ordered it for another Officers weapon and I was skeptical, but with Brownells customer service you never get stuck with a bad part...Ever. I will be ordering a few more after this one gets out in the field and passed around, It has a great feel. Its not too big and not too slim, just right. Well heck, the next couple will probably end up on my rifles, Armorer privilege, you know.

Good fit and finish. Mine was dinged in handling/shipping, but a little foam wrap would have prevented that. I have been using Double Star products for some time now and my customers are very pleased with them. I like these a lot.

I used the Double Star hand guard on a varmint build and I'm really impressed with the quality of this hand guard / barrel nut kit. The machining is excellent, finish is perfect and the vent design looks good also. This a very good buy, especially at this price. It looks a lot better than more expensive pieces.
