Great upgrade! (31/05/2011)

This is a very nice upgrade for the Mini 14/30. After reading other customer reviews, I was hesitant to make the purchase because the install was somewhat involveed. I watched a few videos and read some information online and decided to go for it.
It does require disassembly of the trigger assembly, and you do need a slave pin. I was able to use an 8 penny nail, and cut it to the width of the release. It held the spring in place until I could line up the holes and replace the slave pin with the Ruger pin. It was not incredibly difficult and works like a charm!

works great took 10 minutes to install. no issues, use a slave pin , i used a piece of a butt connecter cut to size ,

Great addition to an American classic (07/03/2016)

I was more than impressed with the ASI magazine release. I noticed a big improvement in my magazine changes. The installation took less than 10 minutes with the use of a guide pin. The only negatives are that it did not include a guide pin and once installed you are unable to use the Thermold 30rd magazines.

Nice Mag Release (24/06/2010)

This is a great Mag Release. It is much easier to release high cap mags. It was a PITA to install, however. Instructions were nill and I had to rely on books and DVDs that I purchased to help. Simple part, but took major time to install. I had to do some custom filing to make it fit. I was installing on a low number Ranch Mini. It might be easier to fit on a newer model. or Maybe its just me....

The slot in the back of this extension that holds the mag release spring is to shallow causing it to bind the spring making the spring not expand to hold tension on the mag. In all it ruined my mag release spring, cut my thumb and ticked me off for the rest of the night!! However it aught to work fine after I order a new spring and get a gunsmith to modify my release ext and put it all back together for me. Cause I don't feel like messing with it now.
