The Geissele Suppressor Alignment Gage (SAG) is a precision gage used to verify the alignment of a suppressor to the bore of a firearm barrel. It is important to understand that the length of the suppressor is usually much longer than the length of the barrel / muzzle device / suppressor interface geometry. A small deviation at the mounting interface means a much larger deviation of the suppressor exit hole. The deviations from nominal can also be additive which compounds suppressor misalignment. The Geissele SAG is manufactured from hardened steel that has been ground 0.002” under nominal bore diameter. The outside diameter of the SAG is finely finished and straight to 0.001” over its length. Geissele hardens the SAG so that it will not wear by sliding exposure to abrasive powder residue, pull burrs if it slides against misaligned baffles nor allow abrasive particle to imbed into the surface of the gage. There can be a wide variation in barrel bore diameters and bore straightness. 0.002” under nominal bore diameter has been found to be the best size of the SAG that will fit most barrels. The long length of the SAG aligns the gage to the bore; it is not necessary to have a very tight fitting gage with the long length of the Geissele SAG.

El Geissele Suppressor Alignment Gage (SAG) es una herramienta de precisión diseñada para verificar la alineación de un supresor con el cañón de un arma de fuego. Es importante entender que la longitud del supresor suele ser mucho mayor que la longitud del cañón, dispositivo de boca o geometría de interfaz del supresor.
Una pequeña desviación en la interfaz de montaje puede resultar en una desviación mucho mayor del orificio de salida del supresor. Además, las desviaciones de lo nominal pueden ser aditivas, lo que complica aún más la desalineación del supresor.
Características del Geissele SAG:
- Fabricado en acero endurecido, con un diámetro de orificio 0.002” por debajo del diámetro nominal.
- Diámetro exterior finamente acabado y recto hasta 0.001” a lo largo de su longitud.
- Diseñado para resistir el desgaste por exposición a residuos abrasivos de pólvora.
- Previene la formación de rebabas al deslizarse contra bafles desalineados.
- Evita que partículas abrasivas se incrusten en la superficie de la herramienta.
Existen variaciones amplias en los diámetros de los cañones y la rectitud del mismo. Se ha encontrado que 0.002” por debajo del diámetro nominal es el mejor tamaño del SAG que se adapta a la mayoría de los cañones. La longitud del SAG alinea la herramienta con el cañón; no es necesario que tenga un ajuste muy apretado gracias a su longitud.
